The record top scorer says he was super excited after he grabbed the winner against their arch rivals, the Uchendu Warriors to raise the title bid of the People's Elephants
Enyimba forward, Mfon Udoh has expressed fulfilment at giving his side the title boost after he netted the winner in the 1-0 win against local rivals Abia Warriors in Sunday's game in Umuahia.
The visitors had always struggled in the Umuahia leg of the Abia Derby but Udoh came off the bench to break the deadlock in the 69th minute in what turned out the winner as People's Elephant edged closer to a record seventh Nigeria Professional Football League title.
"I just can't describe my feeling scoring for Enyimba against Abia Warriors. I was excited and overwhelmed to have scored in Umuahia," Udoh said.
"I could not celebrate becuase it was very important for my team. The goal meant so much to me and so much for my team and getting the goal when it mattered most.
"I had the belief even before getting into the pitch that I would score and was delighted it came late but I finally scored."
Enyimba welcome second-placed Warri Wolves to the Aba International Stadium this weekend and the record scorer in the domestic league feels that victory is not yet secured.
"It is not over yet for the title. We just need to wrap up the last home game against Warri Wolves and after that we will be thinking of celebrating the title," he said.
On his personal performance in a season blighted by injury, the former Akwa United forward insisted he had a lot to celebrate, at least having his goals to help Enyimba get some crucial points.
"Well, despite the fact I did not do so well this season becuase of my injury, I still gave them the vital points when they needed it. I remembered giving the team it's first away win.
"I'm so happy to be part of the team that is going to win the league title. I can celebrate with delight that I've made my little contribution to my team's success this season," he concluded.
With two matches left, league leaders Enyimba will hosts fellow title contenders Warri Wolves in Aba, before traveling to Akure for a final season clash
