Union Bank rolls out a massive re-branding campaign with stylist Ezinne Chinkata from Zinkata.
Talking on her experience Ezinne explained on her blog how excited and honoured she was to receive the phone call from Union Bank.
“The essence of the re-branding project was; “UBN is currently in the process of implementing a campaign that requires a photo shoot with styling and costumes. The theme for the shoot is Fashion Evolution, which would involve depicting fashion trends from past to present – how the old has become new”
“The scenarios was – a family portrait of a mother and four daughters wearing Nigerian clothes from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and millennium.”
“An evolution of the Iro and Buba attire – from the way it was worn in the past to the way it is worn now.”
“It was quite a time-sensitive project, so I had to work quickly, decisively as well as team up with a designer that would deliver with minimum supervision. Juliet Omoruyi (House of Julyet Peters) was perfect! Juliet is super passionate about her craft and is always happy to try out new projects. I was so lucky! For the group shoot; to depict fashion from the 60’s,70’s,80’s 90’s and now. I and Juliet created designs using Vlisco Fabric to represent styles from the different eras.”
“Union bank also had a colour palette/background they wanted to incorporate into the AD. Armed with this knowledge, I set off to the Vlisco store and selected fabrics that worked with their brand colours and also “should” fuse nicely as a group portrait.”
I would start with the 70’s era’s image ..It’s one of the key looks Union Bank selected to work with for most of the campaign and the roll-out banner. We opted for bell-bottom pants, a fitted shirt and a big afro! A classic look associated with the seventies.. Hakeem Salaam was the photographer for this project and took amazing photos: The images below are un-treated and mostly behind the scenes….”
