INSPRATA BY HUSSAIN UNVEALS ITS BEAUTIFUL COLLECTION
Debute collection took that phrase quite literally with their perfectly fitting jackets and pants. Designed by Orlando Hussain, this collection is symbolic of everything that can be right with formal menswear. It is well tailored, properly fitting and to some extent quite refreshing especially with the choice of fabrication which went from embossed pieces to checkered, plaid and floral prints – the little details count here too; like the combat pocket on the lapelless jacket, which as expected is less formal than the black and white checkered jacket not to forget the extra diagonal panel on the black iridescent pant that hints something in the line of a skirt pant.

Born and raised in Aba, Nigeria, Yagazie emigrated to the United States when she turned 16. She studied Cultural Anthropology and African Studies at the University of New Mexico, where she was introduced to the world of blogging and vlogging in 2011. Using social media platforms, Yagazie unapologetically speaks about issues around, but not limited to bulimia, social anxiety, the obsession with interracial dating and lots more. She also profiles numerous African photographers and artists, calling this “visual curating”.
Yagazie loves sharing her opinions, and says that thanks to social media she gets to represent the different types of women in Nigeria and Africa at large, opening up conversations with like-minded women and encouraging dialogue and debate.
She told Huffington Post journalist Zeba Blay: “I shudder to think about the limiting views people could have of who and what an ‘African woman’ is in today’s day and age. She is you and I, she is everything and anyone. Her possibilities and versatilities are limitless and I can’t imagine anyone having just one view of who she is or can be.”

She is currently collaborating with Lagos Fashion Week and the annual music celebration in honour of Fela Anikulakpo Kuti, “Felebration”. She’s also set to embark on a road trip across Nigeria in partnership with Invisible Borders, teaming up with other writers, filmmakers and photographers to document life across Nigeria.
The world needs more Yagazie Emezis!
Huffington Post‘s recent post describes Yagazie Emezi as ‘the social media star changing the way people see modern Africa‘, saying ‘she’s on the verge of blowing up‘.Yagazie’s bright smile and lush afro are two of a few things that attract you to her but her unapologetic and authentic personality is what makes you linger. After moving back to Nigeria 2 years ago, she started sharing details of her life and what it’s been like to move back home on social media. With this she has acquired a large following with her compelling photography, humorous cartoons and intriguing videos on her YouTube channel. With Yagazie, no topics are off limits. She tells Huffington Post what most inspires her, and according to them the answer is quick and definitive: “Stories, stories, stories… No filters, no staging, just the raw truth.”
GWYNETH PALTROW JUST UPPED THE VACATION STYLE GOAL
If you were wondering where A-listers are spending spring break this year, then Gwyneth Paltrowmight have the answer. The Goop founder was spotted in Buenos Aires earlier this week, and judging by her ensemble, it’s clear she brought a chic wardrobe on vacation with her.
Eschewing all the typical tourist clichés, Paltrow looked fresh in an all-white outfit that spoke to her preppy East Coast roots and had a twist of Latin flair to boot. A plunging optic white blouse played up her holiday glow while her Frame Denim flares had a cool ’70s sway. Platform espadrilles, a ladylike Chanelshoulder bag, and matching white Self-Portrait X Le Spec sunnies gave the ensemble a sense of polish.

THE FUTURE OF FASHION #HEINEKENLFDW AND STYLE HOUSE PRESENTS THE FASHION BUSINESS SERIES
The Fashion Business Series returns with The Future Of Fashion on the 15th of April 2016, hosted by Heineken Lagos Fashion & Design Week & Style House Files and sponsored by PAL Pensions and the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC).
The platform provides an opportunity for key players in Government, the Private Sector and the Fashion Industry to develop a roadmap to position the fashion industry as a significant contributor to the nations GDP and serves as a forum for exchanging ideas, networking and exploring strategies to grow the industry.
Themed, The Future of Fashion, this edition of FBS will focus on manufacturing and how to reduce the cost of operations for profit maximization. Commenting on the theme, Ronke Adeola, Project Manager – FBS, said, “Fashion practitioners have been struggling to find ways to reduce the cost of manufacturing. Once the industry is able to drive down this critical cost of operations, profits will increase which will help grow the industry. With an economic agenda to increase export opportunities, it’s imperative we tackle this issue to foster growth in all areas of the value chain”
Opening its doors to private sector practitioners, textile companies, retailers, & manufacturers, fashion retailers, luxury fashion brands, designers, and fashion entrepreneurs, FBS will also touch on other critical sectors of the fashion industry such as retail, e-commerce, PR, communications and more.
Industry stakeholders will discuss on varied topics including Retail and Etail: Maximizing Opportunities and Reducing Risk; ‘Communicating Fashion and Exporting Fashion to the World’ amongst others.
Facilitated by PAL Pensions, FBS will also feature a VIP Signature Session, titled The Next Level. Open to fashion entrepreneurs operating for a minimum of five years, the session will host thought leaders in Fashion and the Private Sector as they discuss how to build a sustainable business.
“To build an iconic, sustainable brand, certain systems have to be in place and a pension plan is one of them. As conversations increase concerning expanding the role the fashion industry plays in the economic landscape, there is a real opportunity to develop indigenous iconic brands and a need for businesses to be rightly positioned to attract game-changing growth opportunities. We look forward to an interactive and impactful session” comments (Adaora Ude, Head, Branding & Communications, PAL Pensions).
The Fashion Business Series will hold on the 15th of April 2016 at The Metropolitan Club, Kofo Abayomi, Victoria Island, from 9am – 2pm.
